All About Fire Bricks

 Fire Bricks

In the construction industry, bricks are regarded as a primary building blocks which are used for several different purposes. The bricks need to be strong, durable and tough to provide enough strength to structure so that it can last for years.

Fire bricks are special types of bricks that have ability to withstand under intense heat as well as stop fire flames from spreading. These bricks have low thermal conductivity and extreme high melting point. Owing to these properties, fire bricks are widely used in fireboxes, kilns, fireplaces, liners, woodfire ovens, etc.

What Are Fire Bricks?

Fire bricks are molded rectangular blocks of clay that are made of refractory ceramic material. High in alumina content, fire bricks are baked and treated to make them heat resistant in order to make them withstand high temperatures. Fire bricks are also renowned for their capability of improving the efficiency of heating systems by sustaining excessive heat without fusion. In other words, fire bricks resist the heat to pass through them, instead they reflect the heat waves back to the fireplace, thereby creating more heat inside a fireplace.

Though fire bricks are durable as compared to normal bricks, they also tend to crack or break down over a period of time. This will eventually reduce the efficiency of fireplace. The only way to retain back the efficiency of fireplace is to replace the cracked fire bricks. As the cracks in the fire brick will let the heat to escape from the fireplace. The sides of the fireplace will experience high temperature because of escaped heat and will gradually damage it.

Fire Bricks – Their Various Types & Uses

Fire bricks are available in various ratings, which are based on their composition and applications. The physical properties of firebricks can be adjusted by adding or reducing the amount of refractory material during the manufacturing process. The different specifications of fire bricks includes Dense Bricks, Clay Bricks, Heavy Duty Bricks, Insulating Bricks and many more.

Heavy Duty Fire Bricks are heavier in weight and are designed to withstand extreme temperatures. These fire bricks are mainly used in large-sized furnaces as they have 50% alumina and 50% silica in their composition. These bricks last for a long time and hence, they are used in firebox application at residential, industrial and commercial level.

Clay Bricks are made by using local clay which are fired in a kiln, between 2000F to3000F. These bricks cannot withstand high temperature so they are used for constructing the dome of the furnaces. Decorative arch with pillars on both sides of the oven vent along with the vent landing can be made using these clay bricks.

Insulation Bricks are light in weight and have low thermal conductivity and low heat holding capacity. These bricks have the capability of stopping heat and hence, they are used for as a insulating material in industrial furnaces. Insulation bricks are soft in texture and have small air pockets which increase the insulating properties of these bricks.

Depending upon the composition of fire brick, they are being used for various applications which make them a versatile and indispensable product. Everything from fireplaces, fireboxes to pizza ovens are designed using refractory fire bricks. The heavy duty fire bricks are used in the cooking floor of the oven while the clay bricks are used for making decorative dome and landing base of the oven. Fire brick products are also used in making a thermal shield on the space shuttle.

Types of Reduction Gear Boxes

The gears are very vital part of the engine of any machine or vehicle and hence gear box is one of the most important equipment used in vehicles. The primary job of a gear box is to convert speed & torque from one power source to another equipment by efficiently using gear ratios. They are also very commonly known as transmissions as well and their use is not only limited to vehicles but also to machines used in various industries.

Reduction Gearbox
All machinery which needs speed & torque will have to use gear boxes for satisfactory results. There is a wide variety of gear boxes available in market now days due to great development in technology. These are industrial gears, automobile gears, shaft mounted gear box, helical gearbox, planetary gear box, gear couplings, worm reduction gearbox and geared motors. All gear boxes are generally considered as the central & integral component of any transmission systems. It facilitates adequate gear reduction and used to convert the speed of an engine into torque which enables it to propel the motor forward. These boxes are mostly used to enhance torque while reducing the speed of the drive shaft. There is a difference in the drive-shaft speed of gear box and engine; drive-shaft of the gear box rotates bit slowly as compared to the drive-shaft of the engine. This difference in the speed results into thrust and that further increases the torque.

Types of Reduction Gear Boxes

Gear boxes are generally available in 2 options i.e. Manual Transmission and Automatic Transmission gear boxes. Both these types are available in different shapes and sizes to meet the variable needs of the automotive industry. Manual transmission gear boxes are the simplest form available in the market. As the name suggests; it requires manual movement of kind of a sliding gear with the help of a shifter attached to the gear box. Where else this is done automatically in the automatic transmission gear boxes; eliminating the need of any kind of operator. In order to select proper gear in these systems, a proper hydraulic system is utilized for accurately detecting the pressure of any fluid present in the engine.  The automatic gear box uses a converter which helps in converting the torque.

Both manual gear boxes and automatic gear boxes are relatively easy to maintain. Though there is a need to regularly clean them with the help of proper cleaning agent and lubricated at regular intervals in order to ensure they work smoothly. Appropriate lubrication ensures low friction between the gear parts which helps in increasing their lifespan along with controlling the noise levels during their operation.

Medical Equipment Holds The Key Vision For Providing Treatment

Hospitals, nursing homes and laboratories have medical equipment for assisting medical professionals in saving and improving the patient's life. There are thousands of medical equipment available for rendering patient's care which range from heart monitoring equipment to ultrasound machines. The medical equipment are very essential part of patient care, as both doctors and nurse rely on the reading of such equipment for providing treatment to the patients.

Medical Equipment

Medical equipment are devices that are designed to monitor patient's conditions from time to time. Some medical equipment are mainly powered electrically, but there are also some simple devices which are hand operated or battery operated. Some are stethoscope, digital thermometer, weighing machine and blood pressure cuff. In general, medical equipment manufacturers designed these equipment to carry out specific functions in different types of emergencies and treatment.

Depending upon various treatment's applications and emergency, medical equipment are classified and are being used in their respective department of hospitals and nursing homes. Most common are discussed as follows,

1) Diagnostic Equipment are very common type of medical equipment that are used by doctors in all medical centers. These equipment are used for detecting the root cause of infection, diagnose diseases as well as tracking the progress of treatments. Use of correct diagnostic equipment leads to correct treatment of diseases. The commonly used diagnostic equipment include Ultrasound machines, PET scanners, ophthalmoscopes, otoscopes, X-Ray equipment, CT scanners and many more.

2) Surgical Equipment are basically used for assisting doctors while performing surgery. These equipment include diagnostic scope that surgeon insert deep into body of the patient to see the hard to reach area while performing surgery.

3)
Life Support Equipment are used to enable proper functioning of patients' internal organs and systems. These equipment are used when the patient has suffered from great injury and find difficult to breath and carry out other essential functions. Life support systems include dialysis machines, medical ventilator, heart-lung machine and ECMOs.

4)
Therapeutic Equipment are rehabilitation devices which are used post surgeries or medical treatment to help fast recovery of patients. These equipment helps in reducing pain, edema and inflammation, thereby increasing patient's comfort and tolerance to treatment. Infusion pumps, Shock wave therapy Equipment, Vibration therapy, Electrotheropy device and many more.

5) Day-To-Day Equipment comprises various types of tools and medical devices that are used while a routine check-up of patients. These include needle destroyers, sterilizers, pulse checker, diabetes management tools and weighing scale.
