Computer Stationery refers to the stationery items which are used by the computer and its various systems directly or indirectly. The extensive variety of stationery used by the computer include the different types of paper, ink cartridges, CD, DVD, screen covers etc.
Some of the items of Computer Stationery are discussed below-
Printing paper
Paper used in line printers and dot matrix printers are in continuous forms of paper which are feed to the tractor sprockets. This continuous paper stack must be below the printer or must be perfectly aligned at the behind. The continuous stacks of paper are transversely perforated at regular intervals. It consists of a small slit line which is usually torn from the edge in order to define the bottom and top of the page. When the papers are in continuous flat sheet and unfolded, the perforation of the slit closes and allows the printer for easy printing across the edge of the perforation without jamming or stopping.
A laser printer uses the sheet of paper of 8.5 into 11 with 6.4 mm or 0.25 inch margins where the printable area is 270 mm into 200 mm or 8.0 by 10.5. The type of paper which is used in modern times is the A4 size paper with glossy finish. Other types of paper can also be used which depends upon the types of applications like the pre printed paper, carbon less paper etc.
Ink Cartridge
The inkjet printer consists of the inkjet cartridge or ink cartridge which is replaceable. The ink cartridge consists of the print head and ink which is used for printing on the paper. Partitioned ink reservoirs are present in the ink cartridge.
Toner cartridge
The toner is present in the cartridges in the form of powdered ink particles. It is either based on plastic or wax and when through the fuser assembly the paper passes, the toner particles melt and the image is produced on the paper. All the toner cartridges are in front of the transfer belt and each toner is applied accurately to the belt which then combines in layer and a uniform single step is applied on the paper in the form of an image.
Mouse pad
A mouse pad is the surface where the computer mouse is placed for moving. The mouse pad is used for enhancing the utility and usability of the mouse. When the mouse is directly used from any surface or table it does not work correctly and appropriately. When the mouse pad is used with the mouse the movement is without jitter and is accurate because of the uniformity of the ball or LED. These are also used as these offer a padded wrist rest which increases ergonomics.
CD and DVD
The optical disc used for storing digital data is called compact disc or CD and the format of optical disc storage is called DVD. DVDs have higher storage capacity compared to the CDs of same dimensions. CDs and DVDs are stored in holders or racks which protect these from getting damaged.
Pen drive
Pen drive is the data storage device which includes integrated interface of USB or Universal Serial Bus and flash memory. It is also known as USB flash drive.
